Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. This is Jennifer's  sister Tabor and I am going to attempt to run and update this site as best I can to help keep everyone informed. Jennifer has just been diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer which has metastasized to her liver and her lungs. Many people have asked how she learned of her diagnosis so I will give you a quick run down.  A few weeks ago Jennifer started having some heartburn, indigestion and nausea after eating so  she made a visit to her PCP and was given a probable diagnosis of gastritis and started on Prilosec. She was told to give it a few weeks as it takes time for the GI tract to heal. After two weeks she wasn't feeling as well as she had hoped so she made a call to the doctor who ordered an outpatient ultrasound to investigate further and rule out any other issues. Jennifer went in on Sunday June 4th for the ultrasound and was given shocking results, she was told she had multiple masses in her pancreas. She was immediately sent for a CT scan where the masses were diagnosed as cancerous with multiple lesions seen on her liver and her lungs. She had a liver biopsy done on Tuesday June 6th that confirmed Stage IV Adenocarcinoma, we were given these results on Friday June 9th. This obviously hit us all like a ton of bricks. Jennifer will be getting the standard aggressive treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer which is a  chemotherapy called Folfirinox- it is a combination of 4 different chemotherapy drugs. Surgery and radiation are not an option at this point. She will be receiving her treatments at Levine Cancer Institute and will start on Friday June 16. Her doctor is amazing and she has such a great connection with him already. She had her Power Port placed on Tuesday June 13th- this is a long term port in her chest that is used for venous access. She will get her chemo through this and it can also be used for IV fluids, blood draws, etc.  Anderson has been told of her mom's diagnosis of cancer and the treatment plan, she is doing okay but is obviously overwhelmed and scared so please keep her as a priority in your prayers. Jennifer has an amazing outlook and is such a positive person, she is ready to fight this cancer will all she has and we are prepared to fight right along with her. We believe in the power of prayer and know that trusting in God will see us through. We all know that this will not be easy but with all of the love and support we have from each of you we will get through it.  We appreciate your words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
