Welcome to our CaringBridge website for our Mom Jennifer McLaughlin. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On December 26th, she received a phone call to come in because they found an abnormality in her 3D mammogram. On December 27th she was sent to a specialist where they did an ultrasound on the right breast and proceeded to do a biopsy on the spot. Two days later she received a phone call that she had cancer in the right breast and needed to meet with a surgeon ASAP. At that point it was determined that she should have an MRI and a bone scan because the cancer is an invasive type. She then went in again on Friday January 5th to get a dye test done. A cyst was found in her lower back which she will need to get surgically removed. They also discovered that the cancer was twice as big and in the left breast as well. That same day she had some testing done to see if the cancer was in her bones. Thankfully they hey determined that it's not. She has another biopsy scheduled for this upcoming week and has decided on the oncologist and surgeon she will be going with at the U of M. Currently, we don't know what stage it is or if it is in the lymph nodes. We will know more when she gets the surgery. Thank you for all of the support we have gotten so far and for the messages we have been receiving. We are staying positive but also know that this will be a long journey. We will update this site as we get more information.
