Thank you for visiting.  Jennifer was diagnosed with stage for esophageal cancer in July 2021. An exploratory laparoscopy indicated that the cancer had spread and was inoperable. At the age of 54 she was told she had six months to three years maximum to live. Jennifer began chemotherapy and  immunotherapy soon there after. After six months she underwent another pet scan which showed zero uptake meaning that there was no sign of cancer. Her surgeon called her and told her that he rarely changed his mind but that in this case he felt she had a good chance and he decided to go ahead with surgery. The esophagectomy took place on January 19, 2022. The surgery was a success! Unfortunately complications caused Jennifer to have a hernia which extended her stay in the hospital from two days to two weeks. She is now on a feeding tube and slowly making  a recovery. The good news is all pathology results indicate zero cancer. The plan is to resume chemotherapy and immunotherapy beginning in March. It is essential that she goes through this preventative treatment. Three months of these treatments and the doctors may then put her on just immunotherapy. It has been a really tough battle . She has not been able to work and because she is an independent contractor has been living entirely out of savings paying her own healthcare and huge San Francisco Bay area rent. In time she hopes to get back up on her feet and begin working part time. Fortunately she can work from home.
