Excerpts from Jennifer's email on 7/5/2017:
Two weeks ago today, I was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. As this is probably coming to you as a shock, it was exactly that and more on the afternoon of the June 21st.....a day that I won't be able to forget. Since then, I've been spending much of my time coming up-to-speed on the disease state so that I can make sound, medical decisions, and how to successfully overcome it with flying colors.
I opted to participate in a clinical trial for an investigative immunotherapy drug in addition to standard therapy, so once all the required procedures and tests are completed, I will soon be starting with chemotherapy, followed by surgery to remove the masses, and then more chemo. The gynecologic oncologist is at Cedar Sinai, so will be fighting the traffic often....
As the battle laid out for me will be long and challenging, I would really appreciate it if you guys can keep me in your prayers.
I still have quite a bit of things to take care of, but with increasing bloating from ascites and fatigue kicking in too frequently, productivity has been at a slow speed. I will try to keep you guys updated via email as often as I can....
