On June 2nd, 2022 I went to the Emergency Room after receiving abnormal bloodwork from my primary care doctor. After getting a cat scan, the doctor came in and told me the news that would change my life forever. I have stage 4 rectal cancer that metastasized to my liver. Being only 32 years old, this was the biggest shock I could have ever imagined and I didn't know what to think. All I knew was that I had numerous procedures, surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy to I would have to face in my future.
It has been 4 months since I was diagnosed with this horrific disease, and I am now at a place where I am ready to share my story.
My current treatment plan is 6 rounds of chemotherapy (I have just completed this, yay!), liver resection surgery, 6 more rounds of chemotherapy, then rectal resection surgery followed by some additional proactive chemo rounds to ensure all the cancer is gone.
