As most of you know, we are expecting our third child at the end of the summer. As it turns out, our little spit-fire daughter has brought us another surprise. She will be arriving much earlier than planned.
Last Friday, on a hot June 29th, Jennifer and I saw our daughter via an ultra-sound. The baby is healthy and active at 31 weeks. However, a nagging headache had been bothering Jennifer for a few days. Later that afternoon, Jennifer decided to call the nurse-line to inquire about her headaches. The nurse suggested that Jennifer get her blood pressure checked, so she ventured abroad with the kids to the local Hyvee for a blood pressure reading.
Jennifer and the kids carried on with grocery shopping-- birthday cup cakes and dinner from the deli-- and then returned home. After dinner, Jennifer called the nurse-line again to report her blood pressure readings. Upon hearing about Jennifer's blood pressure, the nurse instructed Jennifer to make a b-line for the hospital where she intended to deliver our daughter.
Jennifer was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia. We are now on a journey that we never expected or anticipated. We will use this site to communicate updates as we are able. Thank you for your love and support. It truly means more than you know!
