Mid-January, Jen had been rundown, short of breath, just couldn’t kick this “cold”. She was seen at the clinic: laryngitis maybe a touch of pneumonia. She rested, but ended up back in the clinic, had some labs drawn, more appointments and labs until 2/9 she was sent to Sanford Sioux Falls to the ER. Still a lot of uncertainty,  but felt some urgency.  She was admitted to the hospital that night. CT scans, blood tests, she received a blood transfusion and some platelets, then a bone marrow biopsy.  Finally, on Monday, February 14♥️, she was given a diagnosis. The diagnosis we had feared but didn’t let our mind travel to…Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Since then, Jen had a PICC line started then moved straight into 7+3 chemotherapy. She completed the induction round on 2/24. Now she’ll wait for her blood levels to recover, and hopefully the next bone marrow biopsy will show the chemo is doing it’s job!
Jenni has kept her positive attitude as she jumped right into treatment to kick this cancer!!🧡 She will be staying at Sanford throughout her first 28 days of treatment(2/17-3/17). Hopefully after that, she will be able to rest at home and be admitted just while receiving chemo.  Please keep her in your prayers!🙏🏻
