Jennifer McKenzie Frazier Jen's Support Squad

First post: Sep 19, 2016 Latest post: Nov 7, 2016
Jen and her family received shocking news on Monday, September 12th; she has Inflammatory Breast Cancer.  Jennifer gets mammograms regularly, and had a mammogram nine months ago that was clear.  This particular form of breast cancer can be difficult to see in a mammogram, and eventually presents as a rash. That rash is what got Jen to the doctor.  After a whirlwind four days of biopsies and scans, the doctors determined that the cancer is present in the breast, the skin of the breast, and the lymph nodes. It is stage 3, and we could not be more grateful that it is not stage 4.

Jen and I met over 30 years ago at summer camp at Pine Cove in East Texas.  I, like so many of you, adore her and consider her family. She has spent so much of her life caring for others, but this "Support Squad" is about taking care of her, her husband, Drew, and their beautiful children, Campbell and Hud  - with lots of prayers, with encouraging messages, and with tangible needs when they arise. We will post updates here regularly, and we will post links to sign up for other help as we learn more about what they need day-to-day to keep them strong for the fight.

You, Jen's Squad, showed up in unimaginable ways when I first posted on GoFundMe, and the family is beyond grateful. Now let's stand by her side as she takes on cancer, and kicks it to the curb.  Jennifer will love reading your encouraging words; let's use this site to pump her up and inspire her, not to give her medical advice or suggestions.

I am going to repeat my disclaimer that I used last week: "I will not attempt to be as witty, feisty, funny, eloquent or grammatically perfect as Jennifer in this post or any other; that is a losing battle."  The good news is that Jen has hopes of posting these updates herself one day, and I know we all look forward to that.  The girl's writing skills, wit and humor are just unmatched.

Cancer sucks.

With love and gratitude on the Fraziers' behalf,
Page McAnear
