Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. If you want to see Jelena please let myself or mom (Joni) know ahead of time so we can make sure it’s a good time for a visit.

Jelena started feeling sick on Tuesday, February 5th.  She had a fever and vomiting.  Thursday the 7th while eating breakfast she fainted and fell to the floor from the breakfast table.  She was taken via ambulance to the hospital, only to be released after a few hours when she seemed ok.  Friday she continued to not feel well and progressively got worse.  Saturday Feb 9th she was taken to urgent care because she was feeling dizzy and had a high temp again.  She was sent home after her vitals looked okay and told to rest up and keep taking in fluids.  Sunday Feb 10th in the morning, a care worker in Jelena's group home went into her room at 9AM to check on her and she was very discolored and unresponsive.  An ambulance was called and she was taken to North Memorial in Robinsdale.  First assessments in the ER were that she had a very high heart rate, low blood pressure, low respiration rate and high fever.  She was swabbed and tested positive for influenza. Shortly after being admitted it was also discovered that Jelena had pneumonia and an MSSA Staph infection.
