Tuesday, April 17 was a reminder that your life can turn on a dime. And not just because it was Tax Day~! Jeff's angiogram, which took a couple of weeks of medical meddling to get scheduled (we thought it was asthma), showed significant blockages in his heart, even though he doesn't have many "risk factors." We find it hilarious that everyone keeps referring to him as "young and healthy" but yet we discovered he needs a quadruple bypass! So, on Tuesday, April 24, that's the plan...Jeff will be at St Vincent Hospital under the care of a cardiac surgeon who will use various veins to bypass those blockages. The surgery will be in the morning (unless it gets bumped for an emergency) and he will be a couple of days in the ICU, then several more days in hospital. Then, he can come home to the den where we have a pile of pillows, books and Netflix! Visitors are welcome Day #3 or after in the hospital (all systems remaining "go") or to our home, where we welcome visitors...especially to relieve Lori the week of April 30 (read: divorce prevention). The surgery isn't really dangerous, but the recovery is arduous (surgeon: "not exactly a picnic"), although Jeff welcomes snacks! He won't be lifting boxes this summer or redoing the front of the house as Lori planned (some people will go to any length...!?). Thanks to friends and family for coming alongside! for visits, dinners and help needed (Jeff did a lot around the house, we're already discovering!).
