Jeffrey was admitted to the MICU at Hennepin County Medical Center on May 9, 2019. He had extremely low blood pressure due to a blood infection (sepsis). The doctors think that the infection likely came from his dialysis port. The doctors decided to sedate and intubate him to allow his body to rest and devote all of his energy to healing. I was there yesterday afternoon. He tried to open his eyes a few times but quickly closed them. I asked him to blink twice if he heard me and he did. I reminded him that he's a fighter and that he needs to rest and fight this infection. He can have visitors, but please don't go if you are sick or think you may be getting sick. He needs all of his energy to fight the infection he already has. Also, please know that because of the breathing tube, he will not be able to talk to you. You will be asked to wear gloves and a gown for both yours and his protection. If you do go to visit, we invite you to make a journal entry on this site to let us know you were there and how he was doing.
