Jeff was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on February 13, after being admitted for pneumonia and low blood counts. Jeff had been fighting a sinus infection, then gastrointestinal issues, and finally pneumonia over the course of a few weeks, when the results of blood work sent Jeff to the emergency room for immediate treatment. Further blood work and a bone marrow biopsy showed AML, of the I-16 variant (inversion at the 16th chromosome).  Jeff began inpatient chemotherapy treatment on February 15.
