Dad was diagnosed with Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma in January 2021. His PCP did routine blood work at his annual physical in September 2020 and found that his red blood cells were low, he was anemic, and his protein was elevated. After taking an iron pill for a month, they re-checked his blood and found that his counts were continuing to get worse as well as he began having severe back spasms / pain.  He then saw a Hematologist Oncologist (Dr. Goebel) who did further testing and full-body x-ray, which revealed several lytic legions on his arms and leg. His free light chains were off and Dr. Goebel diagnosed him with Multiple Myeloma.  Dad's PET scan and biopsy confirmed her diagnosis.
