Jeff was diagnosed with a brain tumor on November 20, 2020. Since then, he has been diagnosed with metastasized melanoma in his brain and lungs. He originally had melanoma removed from his back in summer of 2019 and we thought that was the end of it. Since November 20, he spent 8 days in the hospital at Ascension St. Mary's in Saginaw and had brain surgery to remove one of the 5 tumors in his brain. This tumor was causing him to lose the use of his right hand/arm and right leg. His brain surgery went well. He then spent another 10 days at Healthsource in Saginaw for inpatient rehab. They were wonderful and he was able to come home on December 8. He continues therapy in Clare 2-3 times each week. The use of his arm and leg have improved so much. He has been released from occupational therapy as of this week. He has now had 5 treatments of cyber knife radiation on the tumors in his brain. Cyber knife radiation was completed on January 6. He will start immunotherapy treatment in the upcoming weeks to continue to treat the cancer in his brain and lungs. This will be a long term ongoing treatment to kill the cancer in his lungs and brain.
