Thank you for joining us for this journey. As you are most likely already aware, our lives forever changed on Monday, February 20, 2017 when Jeff was diagnosed with cancer. To help keep our family and loved ones as informed as possible throughout this journey, we have set up this site. Your thoughts, prayers, advice, stories and even any good news you have to share are welcomed and mean more to us than you will ever know.
Due to a persistent knot on the left side of his neck that had become very sore, and an uncomfortable feeling in his throat, Jeff went in to see our family doctor who scheduled him for a biopsy the following week. After a very long weekend awaiting results of the biopsy, we were notified that tests indicated cancer. Those words truly fell like a bomb had been dropped right through the phone, as we were all holding on to the fact that Jeff is one of the healthiest humans we know. It is sobering the speed one word can infiltrate and overwhelm every element of life that we think we have total control of.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Neck is the official diagnosis. And just like that we have begun a journey that is being carefully, but rapidly, laid out for us by a group of brilliant doctors that we have already learned to rely and lean heavily upon. From doctors, to practitioners, to nurses and office staff, we literally have the best of the best in our back yard and will be fighting this battle on our home turf right here in Fort Worth.
One thing that we know for sure is that in the 18 short but oh so long days since Jeff's diagnosis, we have been overwhelming touched by the love, encouragement and prayers we have received from all directions of our lives. Know that your thoughts and prayers are immediate and will be felt by Jeff, myself and our families daily.
This journey is hard for all of us to comprehend, but we are filled with certainty that this is a battle that we will win, and doctors utter those same sentiments. Jeff’s resolve is set and strong, and our faith is deeply rooted in the AWESOME GOD WE SERVE.
