Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  On September 18th Jean was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  The news came as a complete shock as Mom had been feeling fine and for those that know her well, she is very active and healthy, with both her parents still living at ages 99 and 96   She had a recurrence of mild abdominal and back pain that prompted her to see the doctor.  We are thankful that she took action and went to the doctor because they caught the cancer early and the tumor in her pancreas is small.  It doesn't appear to have spread to other organs  We immediately sprang into action and reached out to all our friends and contacts for guidance and advice.  Many led us to UCLA as a leader in the Western US in Pancreatic Cancer.  Dr. Timothy Donahue, is the Surgical Director of the UCLA Agi Hirshberg Center for Pancreatic Diseasses.  He is a very busy pancreatic surgeon and performs 3-4 pancreatic surgeries a week and about 100 Whipple surgeries a year!  Seven days after her diagnosis, we were in the UCLA Medical Center meeting with Dr. Donahue and his team.  Mom needs a Whipple surgery to remove her tumor.  It is a very complex surgery that requires great skill and time.  Dr. Donahue had a cancelation this Friday and Mom is scheduled for this Whipple surgery on Friday Sept 28th at 7:30 am.    My mom is ready to get this tumor out.  She is strong and at peace knowing her incredible team has a plan in place to get her Cancer Free! We will try to update on this site often as so many people are praying for her.  Thank you for your support.
