Hello Friends of the Chadwick’s,

I’m sending this message on behalf of my sister Jeannette. My sister experienced a medical emergency after collapsing at church on Sunday. She was taken by ambulance to Kennestone hospital where she has been ever since. After many tests were performed, her physicians found an extensive AVM in the posterior occipital region of her brain. It was large in size and causing significant venous hypertension and pressure on the brain. Monday she underwent 3 1/2 hour surgery with neurosurgeon, Dr Gupta, where he was able to successfully perform an embolization procedure using a material called onyx to seal the fistula. During the surgery she experienced an extremely rare complication where he suspects a piece of the embolic material traveled to one of the small blood vessels perfusing the right eye; this has caused an ischemic injury to her right eye (essentially a stroke to the eye) and afferent pupillary defect. It has resulted in loss of loss of vision in her right eye. We are waiting for ophthalmology to see her for further evaluation. Dr. Gupta informed us he has never seen this in his career and the chances of this occurring were greater than 1 and 100,000. She is still in recovery; she is awake, alert, and processing things as best as possible.

Her husband John, myself, and our other sister Robin are at the hospital with her. At this point we do not know what the outcome of this will be for her vision but praying for the Lord’s comfort and peace for her throughout this process. As you can imagine this is a significant amount of information to digest for her and her family and we’re taking things one day at a time.

We are extremely grateful her condition was found in the manner that it was. Her outcome could’ve been much more catastrophic if not fatal had the AVM ruptured. Jeannette is a healthy young energetic woman, wife, mother, sister and friend who is loved dearly by so many. We are sending prayers of Thanksgiving that she is alive and with us.

Terrica Smith has been a God send taking wonderful care of Emmy and Josie while we are here with Jeannette. We appreciate greatly your prayers and support during this challenging and unexpected time. Jeannette has a received numerous calls and texts; she greatly appreciates your love and concern but is having difficulty reading and responding so please reach out to me to allow her to rest and recover. 404-808-0855 (tel:404-808-0855) (tel:404-808-0855 (tel:404-808-0855)). I will post updates on here as they become available.

Jeannette has always been one too jump in without question to help others in need. Robin and I would like to request help on Jeannette’s behalf for her family with meals & groceries, and possible transportation for the girls over the next few weeks, as Jeanette won’t be able to drive and will be recovering. I’m working with Terrica to set up a meal train. Please continue to pray for her recovery and for John and the girls. We know Jesus is the ultimate healer and we are trusting he has her wrapped in his loving arms!

Thank so much for your prayers, love, and support!
