Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement as I take "Fight Like a Girl" one step further as I plan to BITCH SLAP BREAST CANCER!
7/12/17 was the start of a normal "staycation" until I got the call from Radiology informing me that my yearly mammogram showed an abnormality. I then had an ultrasound that still revealed a concerning msss. I then opted to have a breast biopsy and on 7/17/17 I was told it was positive for left breast cancer. (ER and PR positive HER2 negative).
I am glad Todd, my mother and sisters were with me as I did not hear much else after being told it was cancer. So the tough journey began.
I opted for the lumpectomy and of course, just as luck would have it, the morning of surgery a second radiologist found a second mass in same breast. So they took both lumps out. Oh yah and 2 lymph nodes turned out to be positive so now chemotherapy will be 3 drugs instead of 2. Two surgical margins came back positive so I need to have an additional surgery to clear the margins.
I then opted to go to Mayo Clinic on 8/30/17 and see what they would recomend. While there, they did a breast MRI that revealed yet another mass in the left breast so I will be going back to Mayo on 9/7/17 to have another biopsy. Hoping and praying for the best. I will then come back home and wait for results and hopefully start chemotherapy around 9/14/17. Once done with chemotherapy I will head back to Mayo for the start of a couple surgeries.
I am humbled by all the support I have received from everyone. Thank you to everyone who calls, texts and stops in and everyone at work who keeps me positive. I know I am not alone.!!! You all mean the world to me. I am truly blessed to have each and everyone of you in my life.!!!
