On September 7, Jeanne was admitted to Regions Hospital with pneumonia.  She was diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and on September 8, with the help of her family and doctors, made the decision to go onto a ventilator to help with breathing while she is fighting the infection.

Update: Jeanne was extubated on September 17!

Update: Jeanne was discharged to home on October 19 🥳🥳

Back story:
9/2 Jeanne experienced cough and shortness of breath, had a clinic visit where she was diagnosed with community acquired pneumonia and sent to the hospital for IV antibiotics.
9/2-9/5 Jeanne was hospitalized at Regions for a presumed bacterial pneumonia, given IV antibiotics and oxygen.  (You're probably wondering, but yes, multiple covid tests have been negative.)  She was discharged home with oral antibiotics.
9/7 Jeanne went to the Emergency Room at Regions for worsening shortness of breath, was admitted to the ICU for presumed fungal pneumonia and severe ARDS requiring ventilatory support.

Her three children Emily, Margaret, and Joe are visiting her daily in the hospital.  Her sister Lynn is also actively involved.  This website has been created by Lynn's children as a way of keeping Jeanne's broader community involved.
