On December 9, 2016, doctors confirmed the diagnosis that Jeanie (mom) Gilbert has Stage III ovarian cancer. On December 14, 2016, she began her first round of chemotherapy, and will receive one round every three weeks. At this time, the cancer appears confined to the ovary, a nearby lymph node, and  the omentum. After an initial three rounds of chemotherapy, the plan is to surgically remove the tumor and affected areas, and then to follow-up with an additional three rounds of chemotherapy to kill remaining cancer cells.

That said, while the cancer is certainly treatable, and curable according to mom's gynecological oncologist. the road ahead may be long and exhausting at times. The purpose of this site is to provide family and friends with an avenue for updates, and a forum to share support, prayers, and words of encouragement as we battle towards full recovery. Check the journal page for frequent updates by Jeanie and family members, and please feel free to leave notes of encouragement to help keep her spirits up as she fights towards recovery.
