My Cancer Journey actually began in 1982 with a breast cancer diagnosis when my girls were 7 and 2. Following surgery, God gave me 35 years to be with my family. I pray that I have used that time wisely for Him and my family and friends. The time has allowed me to know all three of my granddaughters – I am so grateful!
Then in 2013, just a year after retirement, I received another cancer diagnosis: this time Stage 4 Ovarian – already in my lungs. I had no “symptoms” until the nagging cough that wouldn’t go away. So we started an aggressive program of chemotherapy some of which gave me several months reprieve but most of which I did not tolerate well at all.
In early August I noticed my eyesight being worse than it always has been. (computer generated numbers are the worst! ). An MRI revealed that the cancer had metasticized to my brain – NOT common with gynocological cancers.
I have now completed 13 of 15 radiation treatments that will hopefully slow the growth of those tumors. The cancer is still in my internal organs but the “Return on Investment” for any more chemotherapy is not good.
We will try to keep in touch and updated as time progresses using this account. Please feel free to share it with anyone who has been a part of my life.
