On January 9, 2016, Jean Anne suffered a massive stroke on the left side of her brain. She was taken immediately to Hennepin County Medical Center where she remains in ICU under the care of a wonderful team of doctors/nurses. She has made slight improvements over the past couple of days but is still is not able to communicate other than a word here and there. She is responding to commands, however, and is able to squeeze hands, etc with her left side. She was accepted into a study by Johns Hopkins University to further treat and/or study her progress as these types of bleeds can have devastating outcomes and recoveries are quite difficult. This morning, she had surgery to insert a drainage catheter into the clot through a small hole in her skull. A good bit of blood was released in surgery and in the coming hours and days they will be flushing a clot busting medicine into the catheter to break up as much of the residual clot as possible. This will in turn drain back out the catheter and relieve cranial pressure. In doing this, it gives Jean Anne a better chance for a more positive long term outcome. Please pray for her strength, perseverance, calmness, and return to health. It’s going to be a very long road back, but we do know that if anyone has the fight in her, it’s our sister, Jean Anne!! You go girl!!
