Since 2012 Jay has been monitoring his blood due to slowly decreasing white blood cell and platelet counts. Last summer (2015), his counts started to enter the alarming category, leading to more regular blood draws and monitoring; many of his statistics led to the belief that he had developed a disorder called Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
