Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Labor Day weekend Jason and Jayne were kayaking with friends. While putting the kayaks in the water, Jayne slipped on a rock and fell on her back. 4 days later, she went to get checked out and the doctors performed a CT Scan which revealed what they thought was pancreatitis and a cyst on her pancreas. The doctors believed this was due to the fall on the rock and recommended rest and an additional CT scan in 3 weeks. The second CT scan showed the cyst had increased in size, however they still felt it was due to the fall and a slow healing process. 3 weeks later she went in for an MRI which showed the cyst was still growing. At this point, Jayne felt a second opinion would be a good idea. After consulting with a family friend, she was referred to a pancreatic specialist at Abbott Northwestern. She went in for an endoscopy and during the procedure it was determined the cyst was actually a tumor. A biopsy was taken to determine if there was cancerous cells. The following morning the doctor called with the devastating news that the tumor was cancerous. The PET scan revealed two tumors in the pancreas somewhere between stage 2 and 3. Only 4% of women Jayne's age develop this type of cancer. We are thankful it was discovered early and Jayne will begin aggressive chemotherapy treatments right away.

We will continue to use this site for any and all updates. Thank you for all the love and support so many of you have already expressed. We appreciate all the prayers and positive thoughts.  We will surround her with an army of warriors and support the fighter that she is. We got this girl!!
