August 3, 2016 Some vacations turn out differently than you planned. We're used to things like getting locked out of the car or kids getting the stomach flu. This year took us to a place we had never expected. On July 28th we packed up our cars and started driving to Felton, California with my sister Bonnie. The next day, Jay, who had been trying to get over a nasty bout of pneumonia since June, decided to drop into an urgent care facility in Vacaville, California and have them listen to his lungs. They sent him directly to the ER (ok...they wanted him to go directly there, but he ACTUALLY went to In-N-Out Burger with us because he thought we should have dinner first.) When he finally went to the ER after dinner, they quickly admitted him. Within 24 hours he had a CT scan, a biopsy of some lymph nodes, and 1.2 liters of fluid drained from the pleural space of his left lung. God provided excellent care at VacaValley Community hospital. The news was not what we had hoped for, though, as Jay has Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
