Jay Shiffler Jay's Road to Recovery

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement for Jay.

On Sunday (Dec. 15) afternoon, Jay collapsed in the driveway. The best neighbor, Matt Marshall, was nearby and was quickly able to call an ambulance. D.Ann was able to get home in time to ride in the ambulance with him to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock. A CT showed brain trauma and a skull fracture, and the neurosurgeon on call, Dr. Glenn Harper, rushed him into surgery. He was able to remove a blood clot and stop the bleeding in his brain. They stabilized him and took him to intensive care, where he is being cared for around the clock by an incredible staff of nurses, techs, and doctors. We get to see the neurosurgeon once a day, so we'll provide notes for everyone updating you on his status.

Please continue to lift up Jay in your prayers. We are praying for a full recovery.
