On October 31st, Jay began having Covid symptoms. For the first week the symptoms were miserable but fairly typical for the virus. By the second week he began feeling worse, and on November 9th his oxygen levels dropped into the dangerous mid-80s. The ER sent him home on 24/7 low pressure oxygen to try to help his lungs recover, but his overall health continued to decline. On November 14th he was admitted to Mercy hospital in Coon Rapids for severe complications associated with Covid-19 including acute kidney injury (AKI.)
