Jason Ziegler HE IS OUR HOPE!

First post: Jan 23, 2022 Latest post: Apr 21, 2024
In Feb 2022, Jason was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma in his throat. He had surgery to remove his vocal cords, and thanks to the skills of his excellent surgeon, Dr James Netterville, aka Dr Nutterbutter, he was eventually able to talk. Although the recovery covered a few grueling months, we reached a new normal by mid-summer

At that time, this Caring Bridge site, was titled “A Hopeful Diagnosis” We were so that relieved that Jason wouldn’t have to undergo chemotherapy or radiation and we were assured that this was all behind us.

Until it wasn’t 😕

I wish I weren’t sharing this.

At the end of June, Jason noticed a hard area on the side of his throat. Within a week there was a visible shape and two weeks later when we returned to Dr N, it was the size of a lemon. We found out it was again a chondrosarcoma, but with differences. This is appears to be much more aggressive We saw a Vanderbilt oncologist the next day, who will coordinate a plan with Dr Netterville.

Last week we returned to Vanderbilt for a surgical biopsy and we are in “wait for all the results to come back” mode.

Please keep us in your prayers and check back for updates.

Thank you, friends.
