March 28, 2017 Jason was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the throat. A little sore throat started bothering him in January . It continued, but all three of us had the flu back to back and we shrugged the sore throat off. A visit to the urgent care for what we thought could've been strep turned into a consult with the ENT specialist. We were told worse case scenario it was cancer. 10 days later the worst case scenario was a possibility. A biopsy was done and within 24 hours we had a cancer diagnosis. Denial, disbelief, frustration, sadness, uncertainty and fear were just a few of the emotions that consumed us the next few days. Jason had just turned 40, he is too young, how could this be? He has never smoked and doesn't drink, statically he wouldn't be at risk for this. But here we are getting ready to fight our biggest fight.
