Jared Weeks Jared's Journey

First post: Jan 19, 2021 Latest post: 14 hours ago
Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. In early October, Jared came down with your run of the mill cold. By October 10th, his symptoms were so severe, it prompted a doctor visit. He was placed on antibiotics and sent back home and within a few days Jared got much worse. On October 14th, 2019 I practically forced him to go to the emergency room. October 15, 2019 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia with 3 different mutations: FLT3, TET2, WT1. Two induction rounds of chemo, followed by 3 consolidation rounds of chemo.  February 6th, Jared and I made our way to Seattle to receive care from Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. On March 17th, amidst Covid-19, Jared received the harshest chemo a body can handle along aide a stem cell transplant to hopefully "cure" him of this AWFUL disease. Unfortunately, Jared relapsed in October 2020 and had to undergo more chemotherapy to get his disease under control. with the intentions of having a second transplant, we packed our bags in late December and made our way back to Seattle. This time with Jaycee (our youngest who is 3) in tow to hopefully receive a second life saving transplant from Jared's brother, Sean. on January 15th, days before Jared was supposed to start his chemo to receive Sean's stem cells, we found out that Jared has relapsed once more and that the second transplant is currently off the table. This updates you up to today where I can hopefully keep you updated more thoroughly and consistently. This isn't just Jared's cancer journey. This platform will be used to update on the good, the bad and THE VERY UGLY. Raw emotion and hope will fill our updates as we fight this battle. I'm not holding anything back anymore. Up to this point, I have somewhat censored what information was given and I can't do that anymore. We need support, help, prayers and love. We are struggling. We wake up each morning and think, is today going to kill us or make us stronger? Each morning of course is a blessing. Also, each morning is a curse. Having doctor appointments 3-5 times per week that take up a majority of your day, you wonder what news or information is going to be given to you. What state of mind is it going to put us in? What is our best option? Are we making the right decisions? and the BIG ONE: HOW MUCH TIME DO WE HAVE? 🧡 Jared and Janet if you would like to send cards please mail them to: Jared Weeks 525 Minor Ave N Apt. 611 Seattle, WA 98109
