Where do I begin? I always prided myself on being able to write but somehow I cannot put into words what has happened so please bear with me. Jared went to the emergency room because he couldn’t swallow a piece of ham. At the time we thought no big deal you need to chew your food better. After removing the ham the doctor decided to do a biopsy, which again we thought was no big deal. After two tests and waiting period that felt like no less than a year we have been given the news that he has Esophageal Cancer. I wish I was strong enough to keep typing but I am not. So I will type what I can. We are scheduled for surgery on August 18 to find the root of the cancer, remove it, and to find out at what stage cancer we are dealing with. There are as many as 4 procedures during this surgery, therefore we have to let him heal from the biopsy and infection before they can more forward.  The biopsy was only done in the section near the top, which is where it has spread. He is in survivor mode using all his energy for Stella, Cass and his students who are on day 2 of a new school year. So please understand we appreciate all the visits, calls and text messages but may not respond. I will end now and send more information when I can actually think again. Until then please send prayers to Jared and our family.
