Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

At 19 years old, Jared was diagnosed with medulloblastoma on August 18th, 2017, a rare, more aggressive brain tumor that is typically found in younger children. He started having symptoms in February of 2017, but as they were vision problems, we didn't recognize it as a symptom at the time.  Looking back, Jared realizes now that he started having some balance problems in June, but he didn't fully recognize it at the time, and thought he was just tired and dehydrated.  And around mid-July, he was having ear ringing and hearing loss in his left ear.  On July 26th, we took him in for what seemed to be an inner ear infection or something related to the ear.  The doctor ordered an MRI and later that day we found out he had a brain tumor. By July 28th, we found out that the tumor was malignant.

Jared had the brain tumor removed at Children’s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, August 9th, 2017.  He came home August 13th and is continuing to have double vision, balance issues and hearing loss, but progressing some.  He is scheduled to begin treatment of radiation and chemotherapy the first week in September.

We appreciate your prayers and support during this journey.  For more about Jared, see his GoFundMe link under Ways To Help.
