Jan was diagnosed in November with Anaplastic Astrocytoma Brain Tumor, Stage 3. She resided at Manor Care while she went through radiation 5 times a week for 6 weeks.
During her last week of radiation, Jan was rushed into surgery at St Lukes after suffering from an infection in her right leg for several weeks. Unfortunately, her right leg had to be amputated at the knee to keep the infection from spreading. She stayed in the ICU for a couple weeks, but after contracting pneumonia in both lungs and suffering a stroke, she was moved to hospice.
The hospice staff and all of her close family have been doing their best to keep Jan comfortable. Throughout all of this, her husband, Pat, has stayed right by her side. Her parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, nieces an nephews, son, and grandchildren have also been there as often as possible to support her and each other.
Despite all of the obstacles Jan has faced, her spirit has remained as strong as ever. She has spent her life helping others, and now we are honored and grateful to be there for her as she completes her journey on this earth. Your comments and prayers are the most valuable form of support to us.
I love you, Mom. Thank you for all you have done.
