On May 2 Mom had surgery to reverse her ileostomy. On May 4 she was back in the OR for emergency surgery to repair a perforated small intestine. Mom has taken Prednisone (steroid) for five years to treat her interstitial lung disease and Myasthenia Gravis. This causes all of her tissues to be delicate and easily damaged. Mom currently has 3 small holes in her small intestine. The surgeons don't want to touch them for fear of causing more damage, so we are hoping they will heal on their own. Mom is also on a ventilator to help her breathe. We are also hoping she can be weaned off this as she regains some strength.
