Jan is preparing for major surgery this coming Thursday, December 2nd. Earlier this year, doctors found some anomalies with her pancreas that could indicate future pancreatic cancer. To prevent cancer from developing, Jan will have a Whipple procedure, where surgeons will remove some or all of her pancreas. It is a 6-hour surgery, and Jan will stay at OHSU for 7-10 days after surgery. Recovery will take several months. Her brother Bruce, who is here from L.A., and her son Mike will be here supporting her over the next few weeks.
Jan is also grateful for your prayers and support. Please pray for a successful surgery, strong healing, and a full recovery.
This site will be used to keep you updated on the surgery and her progress and for you to send her words of encouragement and love as she recovers in the hospital and at home.
Please don't feel like you need to donate to Caring Bridge. They may encourage donations but it is not necessary.
