Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

How did we get here?...
In March of 2017, my mom, Janice had surgery on her back at the University of Maryland Medical System to relieve pain coming from pinched nerves and spinal stenosis.  She underwent spinal decompression and stabilization of L3-5.  Initially she had significant relief and everyone was very optimistic that this was exactly what she needed.  In June she began experiencing pain again.  It took a while and multiple visits to a variety of different doctors but in September she was diagnosed with Carcinosarcoma (also know as Malignant Mixed Mullerian Tumor or MMMT).  On September 19th she underwent a complete hysterectomy at Mercy hospital in Baltimore and began chemotherapy on October 23rd, 2017.  On Monday November 27th it was discovered that there we 2 bone lesions... one in her left hip area and one in her spine at the level of L2.  The lesion in her spine is compressing her spinal cord and as of today,  Tuesday November 28th she is awaiting surgery at the University of MD to address this issue.  We will be using this site to keep her friends and loved ones updated on what's going on.  ~ Laura
