Janice Beals

Our plans to travel to Seattle for Thanksgiving with Janice’s extended family were placed on hold as it was discovered via a CT scan that Janice is carrying a large mass in her abdomen with a diffused mass across the front of her abdomen.  The large mass is next to her intestine and creating a partial blockage and a possible perforation of the intestine.  An infection is also in the mix.

The doctors have retrieved a sampling of the matter for a biopsy, but mostly because of the Thanksgiving weekend, we are not expecting results until the first of the week—December 2-4.  The biopsy is needed before plans can made by the doctors to deal with this problem.  In the meantime, Janice remains in the hospital for monitoring her condition (she has had three additional CT scans) and control of the pain and nauseous activity.

For a week or so prior to this Thanksgiving week Janice was dealing with several symptoms which, individually on their own, were not signals to us of serious complications.  For example:

·       Diminishing appetite

·       Chills from time to time

·       General funky feeling

·       Tiring more easily

·       Weakness

·       Stomach began hurting

·       Then the last couple of days—trouble with eliminating urine and no BM.  These caught our attention, so:

Monday before Thanksgiving Janice called her doctor’s office and a Providence nurse came to our Friendsview apartment to serve as an “in-home emergency room” visit.  Later in the day Providence Health called and told her to come in for a doctor’s appointment Tuesday morning at 8:00.  She never went home.  They say surgery is probably not feasible.  At this point we don’t know what the plan of attack will be.  We were just told, however, that on Monday they plan to insert a tube to drain what seeped through the perforation which they think has now closed up.   Please be in prayer for Janice.
