To all the people who know and love Jan Hibbard, we wanted to share with you all some big news and ask for you to send some big love.
Jan has not been feeling great for some time, many months at least, maybe almost a year. She worked to get to the bottom of what it was, without any luck and with many delays in our new pandemic world. On September 4, her discomfort and pain became so great that Andrew took her to the ER. During that trip they did a scan which indicated that she had diverticulitis, but also, a 4cm mass on her pancreas. While it looked concerning from the first moment, the next few weeks and a biopsy confirmed that it is adenocarcinoma, aggressive pancreatic cancer. She’s been to two surgeons and an oncologist, and while she was open to a possible treatment, especially if it would mean more time and quality of life, there is no viable treatment offered by western medicine at this point. The tumor is not resectable, because it is fully encasing major arteries, so there just isn’t anything they can do.
But, here is the thing, this in no way means that Jan is giving up. She has an acceptance and grace, and hope and peace all at the same time that words cannot fully describe. And for those of you who know her well, she doesn’t intend to be limited by any kind of diagnosis or expected outcome. This isn’t the path she expected or would have picked, but it’s the path before her, and it’s one she intends to walk it with her heart open. So, she’s exploring all sorts of other avenues – plant medicine, energy medicine, and she’s open and ready for healing and a miracle! She’s open to have this tumor disappear tomorrow, and she is also not going to fight a battle that will make her sick and weaker. If it’s her soul’s plan to join Jimmy earlier than she thought, well so be it. So, here is her plan. She intends to live each day that lies ahead as fully as she can. She intends to be with people she loves. She wants to be surrounded by beauty and love. She wants to reflect and record and enjoy every minute, whatever that looks like.
Our ask of you is this – send her love, light, prayers, healing; no fear, no darkness. Hold her in love. None of us are ready for this, none of us saw it coming, none of us know what comes next, but here it is. And she is going to welcome it with open arms and open heart, whatever that may be.
Hold Jan in love and light. See her happy and fulfilled. See healing in all forms in her life. Hold space for miracles to happen.
Thank you for your love and support. We will send out updates as we have them and let you know other ways to support Jan as we move forward. And please send all the messages of love that you can! If you have seen her in person, you will know that she looks beautiful and amazingly well. While she is tired and having some symptoms, she is her same vibrant self. So keep seeing her that way and send her your love. She has held up so many people in her 76 years, and whether she likes it or not, it’s her turn to be held up by all of us.
