Jan Gilbert was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic pancreatic cancer and is starting chemotherapy near his home in Frederick, Maryland. For those of you who know Jan, you know that he has never met anyone he didn’t like, or, who did not like him. As a result, Jan and his wife Evie of 53 years have been flooded with questions about how the big guy is doing. So, we’re starting this wonderful CaringBridge site to keep everyone up to date and to provide a way for you to send Jan a note of encouragement as he takes on the biggest challenge of his life. As a father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and friend, he has always been known for his sense of humor and as the first one to lend a helping hand or word of encouragement - whether on the sidelines of a kid’s baseball game, soccer or basketball contest or while holding a fishing rod, volunteering to mow the church lawn, drive someone to the airport or attend a men’s Bible study.
