Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

A trip to the ER June 10th for numbness on her left side, led to the heavy and unwelcome diagnosis of a brain tumor on the right side of Janet's brain. Following the procedure to biopsy her tumor, we learned it was a malignant tumor; glioblastoma. Yes, every emotion you can think of flooded our minds and hearts. The disbelief, the altering of our current reality, the unending questions of the unknown ahead...and yes, fear. However, anyone of us who knows Janet; her determination, her will, her resolve all speckled with her love of her life, and her wife and friends brought out the fighter, the one who wins, who beats the odds, and knows to place one foot in front of the other with absolute determination.

Janet and Phoebe have chosen to treat this monster with a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. Two separate appointments to meet with neuro-oncologists to manage both treatments, were trying, and blow to her spirit. Once she wasn't hearing the surround sound of chemo/radiation mechanics, she left their offices to go home, and be surrounded by her sweet life where she could reconnect to her resolve and promise to herself, and loved ones.

The next step was to wait for the biopsy incision to heal, so treatments could begin. Unfortunately, she's been pushed back by some side effects of the steroids that are being taken to control swelling on the brain. These secondary complications have been painful, and hard to deal with. We are in the midst of healing these, so we can move on to treatments.

Other than rest and some Oprah re-runs, Janet is able to do little else right now. We are all hoping for a healing week ahead, and she has another doctor's appointment Monday afternoon, that will aid her secondary recovery.

We will use this site to update family, friends and colleagues, as she moves forward. Please hold Janet in your warm, positive and loving thoughts.
