Welcome to our CaringBridge site for Janet Powers Schultz, our Mother/Mother-in-law/Grandmother/Great Grandmother/Sister-in-Law/Aunt/Cousin/Friend. We've created it to keep family and friends updated. Your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most are so appreciated.

More of Janet's story...
Hard to believe it's only been two months since Janet underwent surgery for what was thought to be a gallbladder problem.  A rather simple procedure to insert a drain turned into a major surgical event resulting in a totally unexpected diagnosis of pancreatic cancer!

As you can see from the recent photo above, Janet continues to recover amazingly well from surgery.  Currently in transitional care at  Woodlyn Heights Health Care Center (Inver Grove Heights), she has become a stellar rehab patient motivated by her fierce desire to return home.  Once she regains her appetite and some weight, home is the next stop.

Over the next few weeks as Janet continues to heal and regain strength, further cancer treatment decisions will be made.  We'll keep you posted on her journey.

In the meantime, we ask for your prayers and expressions of care for and with Janet and family via this site.  No greater gift is there than the assurance that God is with us through your presence in both the good and not-so-good days ahead.

O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us. --From "Evangelical Lutheran Worship," p. 317.
