Hello Family and Friends,
I want to start "My Story" by saying Thank You - for loving me during this new chapter in my life. I will share the details here, for some it will be redundant, for others new information.
This health episode began in February with unrelenting gastrointestinal issues. After visits with a GI doctor and a Colonoscopy there was no clear diagnosis until the end of March when my skin and the whites of my eyes turned yellow. That symptom got immediate response with a CT scan of my abdomen revealing a pancreatic mass. Three days later I had a procedure that was therapeutic and diagnostic. It opened a duct allowing my normal color to return but also determined the mass was cancerous. I was then put on a surgery schedule for April 14, it was significant to me it was Good Friday. A long and tedious Whipple surgery was performed and the surgeon reported encouraging news but couldn't be certain til the definitive pathology results were complete. Yesterday, April 19 I learned the cancer was not contained in the pancreas but was found in some of my lymph nodes and chemotherapy would be needed. I am still in the hospital but getting "my swing" back a little more each day expecting to be discharged this weekend.
Those are the facts, now about the feelings.
I never expected this, I don't want this, but with reflection and the help of your prayers, God is showing me how He prepared me and cleared my way to enter this chapter. I will embrace it for His glory.
