Janet discovered a lump on her left breast on 12/2/2016. She contacted her OBGYN, and scheduled a mammogram and a sonogram both of which looked suspect so she then had a biopsy of the lump. The results of the biopsy showed that the lump was cancer. It has been identified as Invasive Carcinoma, and the pathology report shows her to have Triple Negative Breast Cancer (Stage 2), which an aggressive and fast growing cancer. We have currently seen 2 Surgical Oncologist for opinions and both have recommended that she see a Medical Oncologist and begin Chemotherapy first, followed by surgery to remove the lump, then radiation treatment. Overall the Dr's believe the cancer is curable and survivable, but needs to be treated as soon as possible.
Our next steps at this time are to schedule a breast MRI, and begin seeing the Medical Oncologist. We have currently chosen 2 and are working on getting appointments scheduled.
Having had a CaringBridge site myself back in 2012 while going through treatment for Mantle Cell Lymphoma I never expected to be creating a site for Janet. It is heartbreaking. We appreciate your prayers and concern while we go through this journey with Janet.
