Welcome to our CaringBridge website.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  On Christmas Day, 2021, we took James to the Emergency Room because he had been sick for several days and was having trouble breathing.  After drawing blood and running tests, a pediatric doctor told us that James was very sick, the blood work was consistent with cancer, and he needed to be airlifted to Providence Hospital in Anchorage right away.  Jaimi went with him while I stayed in Fairbanks with the rest of the family.  In Anchorage, a bone marrow biopsy confirmed that he had ALL--acute lymphocytic leukemia.  James has started chemotherapy treatment and will need to be in Anchorage for the next 6-9 months. After that he can return to Fairbanks and will continue to receive treatment for another 2 years.  The good news is that this type of leukemia has a 90% survival rate.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  Thank you for visiting.  -Nathanael
