Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Dear Friends & Family,

As many of you know, James went to the emergency room on Sept 1 with an intensely painful headache, where they discovered it was a cancerous brain tumor. 4 days later, he had surgery to remove the tumor. He has since been diagnosed & biopsy results have confirmed that he has small-cell lung cancer that has spread to his brain.

Unfortunately, this type of cancer is very fast-moving so everything has been happening very quickly. The brain surgery went well and aggressive treatments have already begun. We have a dedicated team of doctors and nurses working to help us through this fast-moving approach, and we will do our best to keep you all up to date.

We are extremely grateful to all who have been in touch with kind words, positive thoughts and prayers, meals, help with Meghan, helping around the house, accompanying us to the many appointments and meetings we have already had with the oncologists, surgeons, and radiation specialists, and just spending time with us.  There are too many of you to mention by name, but please know that every gesture has been appreciated and noticed.  Also, my sister has set up a Go Fund Me page (https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-clarke-family-fight-cancer) to help us lessen the financial impact that this diagnosis is having on our family for those of you who wish to help in that manner.

This outpouring of love is what is keeping us all going.
