The Accident:
Jake and I were with a group of friends on a camping trip at Green Mountain Reservoir near Silverthorne, CO.  Jake and 4 other guys headed out from the campsite in an SUV when the driver made a U turn having missed the exit they wanted.  They were t-boned by a truck hauling a horse trailer that was driving behind them when they made the U-turn. Jake was sitting in the back middle seat wearing a seat belt. It's with a very heavy heart that our friend sitting next to Jake did not make it after attempts to resuscitate him at the scene. Jake is the most seriously injured, the other guy sitting next to Jake in the backseat, our very good friend Chris, had 2 broken ribs, a fractured vertebrae and an inner ear injury. Chris was treated and released with the driver and front seat passenger.  The driver of the car went to jail but has been released on bond, though does have charges against him including 1 count of vehicular homicide, 2 counts of vehicular assault (Jake and Chris), DUI, and unsafe U turn. This is also a very hard situation as he is a friend as well- an accident that went very tragically wrong. 



Jake's injuries are serious, but we are told they will all heal. His brain, neck and spine are all in good condition- he's still our same fabulous Jake!  He has 11 fractured ribs, 5 pelvic fractures (largest one being 5.27mm), had a collapsed left lung.
