Thank you for sending so much love our way. If you are not familiar with the situation, baby Jack has a Bladder Outlet Obstruction. This is a rare condition that blocks the baby’s bladder from being able to empty on its own while in the womb. This causes the kidneys to become backed-up and cystic during development and does not allow the lungs to grow and develop due to the lack of amniotic fluid. We have been receiving amnioinfusions by way of an amnioport that was surgically placed to feed fluid into the uterus. These infusions started as weekly infusions and increased to twice weekly upon diagnosis at 21 weeks gestation. These infusions are to try and provide fluid to the lungs for growth development with the goal of Jack being able to be a pulmonary survivor at birth. The links below provide great information regarding this rare condition and what the treatment options are.
