On December 27, 2017, Jack awoke with what he thought was a migraine headache, only to discover later in the emergency room that he had an aneurysm which had ruptured. Following more than four hours of surgery that evening to clip the site of the bleeding, Jack has been kept heavily sedated to facilitate his healing. Complications have impeded his progress, including Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), pneumonia, fever, and a blood clot in his leg.
We have been overwhelmed with the love and support we have experienced in the midst of this crisis. Every kind word spoken, memory shared, gift card or meal delivered, and offer of prayer has been a source of Grace to our family. May God bless all of you for comforting us as we travel this difficult road. You bless us with your love, and make some of the roughest places smooth.
We ask for your continued prayers for Jack as his healthcare team works to keep him comfortable while assessing his neurological status. Even with considerable improvement over the week, we are still facing many unknowns, including when Jack might awaken, the extent of his injury, and the length of his rehabilitation. Amy, Catie, and Bethany will add updates as Jack experiences significant changes in status. We invite you to share how you know Jack, your well-wishes, and your "Jack" stories-- anything that he will enjoy hearing when he awakens--those lift us as well!
