Jack's story started just as many others have - without a clue !  Back in January,  he had gone to the dr. with what he thought was an infection.  After 10 days of antibiotics,  he went in for a followup where a CT scan was ordered at the 11th hour.  Then he and Leona were hit by the truck that is a stage 4 cancer diagnosis.

With that and trying to catch our breath,  we began the search for treatment.  After meeting with a couple of surgeons and oncologist at the university as well as the Mayo clinic - he opted to entrust Mayo clinic with his care.  His family was as pleased as they could be,  given the situation.

He started a regime of chemo every 2 weeks and after 3 treatments, he had responded well enough and is strong enough that Dr. Frank and Dr. Pagliaro decided to proceed with surgery.  Dad was elated that he had made it through the chemo with losing some of his hair,  BUT his mustache fully intact !

We are headed down on to Mayo on the 7th for all the pro-operative appointments and then will head back for surgery  on the 10th.  Dr.s have said he will be in the hospital anywhere from 5 - 7 days post op, pending no complications.  Leona will be with him, as will Dave, Linda, Nancy and Tom.

We will continue to post updates while in Rochester.

Prayers and words of encouragement are more than welcome !  We are so looking forward to turning this corner and starting anew.
