Jacki Smith

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. This is the first entry for Jacki who is doing well and expected to be home sometime next week. As a recap; Jacki had surgery last Tuesday, Aug. 6th, for cancer of the Larynx. The surgery revealed that the cancer had completely wrapped around her voice box, which had to be removed, along with half her thyroid and affected Lymph nodes. Although we had hoped for a partial Laryngectomy so that the necessary trach tube would be temporary, it required a full and therefore permanent trach tube. Jacki, as usual, is in extremely good spirits and of course, her positive attitude will help in a quick recovery. She is at OHSU but will be home shortly and would love to hear from you.Thank you for visiting.
